In order to use our services, a student must be enrolled at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus, pay the Student Services Fee, and have a legal matter eligible for USLS services as described on the Advice and Representation
page or in our Policy Handbook
Scheduling an Appointment
USLS operates on an appointment basis and does not have walk-in hours (except for notary public requests*). If you’d like to begin the process for scheduling an appointment, email your name and student ID number to firstname.lastname@example.org or call our office at (612) 624-1001
. Our intake coordinator will verify that you are eligible for services and ask for a brief description of the type of concern you have.
*I-9 notarizations require an appointment.
What to Expect
When you arrive at our office, you’ll be asked to fill out our New Client Intake Paperwork
. (You can also fill this out in advance and email it to email@example.com
before your appointment.) Appointment lengths can vary, but you’ll typically meet with either an attorney or a legal staff member for 30 minutes to an hour.
The USLS office is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am-5:00pm, except on University holidays. Our intake hours typically fall between 9:30am and 3:30pm.
Beginning on May 28, 2018, SLS will adopt summer office hours. We will be open Monday through Thursday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, and Fridays 8:30am to 4:00pm. We will resume regular business hours on August 24, 2018.
